About Mr. Cotten
James Cotten was a pillar not only of the Willingboro community, but of the nation. Mr. Cotten proudly served his country in the Tuskegee Airmen's 332nd Fighter Group during World War II. He served in the Air Force for 20 years then continued in civil service for 45 years until his retirement from Joint Base McGuire-Lakehurst.
During his time in the military, Mr. Cotten was taught that every day is another day to excel. This was a motto he lived by and shared with those around him. For more than two decades, Mr. Cotten also volunteered on the Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee at ABCO Federal Credit Union, who set up this scholarship in his name. The James A. Cotten Memorial Scholarship is intended to be awarded to two graduating high school students. One recipient will be a student at Willingboro High School who shares Mr. Cotten's values of service and/or achievement. The other will be a student within ABCO's membership who participates in Junior ROTC. |
